We have two great speakers this month!

Session #1: Dr. Curtis from the Doctors Speakers Bureau

Dr. Curtis will provide us with information on the typical injuries that impact software developers and others who do repetitive tasks (like typing).  This is a first for our group and I think it will be a great opportunity to learn about the health concerns we may share.

Session #2: Garbage Collection by Arun Kumar

Garbage collection in .NET is one of fundamental aspects of CLR runtime, yet it is also one of the most misunderstood concepts in CLR. Take a closer look at how .NET manages memory, allocates resources, and  garbage collector works.

Arun is a Systems Analyst at Publix Supermarkets, Technical lead in Enterprise Architect and Services team, building next generation .net frameworks and enterprise wide resuasble components. He has been working on .NET since 2002,and his most recent addiction is fuctional programming languages.  His long time interets are OOAD, Networking Protocols and Operating Systems.

Please let Roy Lawson know if you have any questions or suggestions on topics, speakers, or conducting the meetings.

Mark Brown, Angus Logan, and Dr. Neil on Windows Live

This is an interview I did while at Teched for TechEd Online

I know what you're thinking, that this is just another boring interview about Windows Live, but it was actually loads of fun, and the tangents were as interesting as the real material. I think you'll be a little chuffed when you watch it.

DNS Problems at Pwop/Franklins.Net

We are experiencing some DNS issues. The entire technical staff is away today and their DNS servers for outgoing resolution are not working or got moved or something. Our sites were down earlier, and now after making a few patches to my sites, seem to be back in business. The basic problem is still there, though. I am checking my email so if there are any more problems please send me email - carl@franklins.net

Thanks!

Torrents back online

Our torrents are back online thanks to David Smith from OkayPublish and some creative code tweaking on my part.

I posted a while back that our tracker got hacked and was being used for copyrighted material. We almost got shut down.

Please report any success or failures downloading torrents.  Thanks!
